Pupil Attainment

We take great pride in the achievements of all our children, recognising that each one shines in their own unique way. While we very much celebrate academic success in English and maths, it is not our sole focus. Here at Marlcliffe, we are committed to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum including a wide range of enrichment opportunities. We believe that being literate and numerate is essential for the next stage of education but equally important is the development of character, helping our children grow into responsible, compassionate members of society.
Typically, our children perform above or significantly above, national averages in English and maths. Our ongoing ambition is to ensure every child reaches their full potential. We recognise that strengths may vary across subjects and pupil groups each year and we use achievement data to continually refine and improve our provision where needed.

• Children in the Foundation Stage are assessed throughout their Reception year to support continuous development.
• In Year 1, children are assessed on their phonics knowledge; those who do not meet the expected threshold receive additional support and are reassessed in Year 2.
• In Year 4, children complete a multiplication tables check to assess recall.
• Finally, in Year 6, children undertake Key Stage 2 SATs, which include assessments in reading, writing, maths and grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
