Marlcliffe Primary School - Putting children first in every action & decision

 Marlcliffe Y6 blog

Our Y6 blog gives parents & children in Y6 messages, homework & writing journal tasks from the Y6 team.

Use it for checking homework tasks & for any last-minute messages.  Don't forget to use our Links page to access some of the best interactive educational websites around and our Gallery page to see some of the work we've been producing.

You can reply via the comment box below.  Let us know what you think; ask us what this week's homework is; ask for help with a task.

See the exclusive Y6 gallery to the right.  This was what we got up to in France.

Homework upper set maths

February 28, 2010
Times tables games below, plus

Make a poster to explain how to cheat in difficult times-tables using what you already know.  Remember to give examples of each cheat.

Here’s what we mean:

If you’re having trouble with your six times table, why not cheat and use your five times table?  Say you’ve got the problem 6x7 (six lots of seven); all you do is to work out 5x7 (five lots of seven), then add another lot of seven.

So 5x7=35, therefore 6x7= 35+7 = 42

Do examples for the 6x, 7, 8x, 9x & 11x tables.  Give two example calculations for each.

You can use SAM Learning at home or at school.  We're using it mostly for maths, but provided you've enough hours on the maths area, you can use it for anything.  If you're heading for a level 5 at the end of the year, you might want to look at some of the KS3 stuff too.
