Marlcliffe is to be Hallam FM's School of the Week next week. Ritchie will come into school to speak to the children and staff, broadcasting from the school all week. Bring your Soothers, you could be on the radio! Listen out for Big John's Breakfast Show on Monday

Drama & dance at Marlcliffe on Wednesday night

It was all go at Marlcliffe this Wednesday. In the hall, we had a performance from Northern Lights Theatre Company of Footprints - an interactive live-action & puppet performance on the theme of caring for the environment. Seventy children and ten parents attended the event. Meanwhile, in the drama studio, The Buzz continued their regular Wednesday drama, dance & performance club. Oh, and it snowed on Wednesday night too! We need a lie down!

Y5 have been working with the Sheffield Music Service, learning how to play stringed instruments: violin, cello and double bass. We were rehearsing on Monday 1st February and recorded a couple of pieces. We'll put our work on the website regularly. See if we improve over the weeks. And whether Genna coughs over all the pieces.

School's snow fun these days

Marlcliffe School was open on 4th January 2010.

Y6 had a snow graffiti lesson in the snow while the rest of the school had a writing competition to win time in the snow and to throw snowballs at Mr Brooks.

School’s just no fun these days!

Of course, there is a serious educational point to what we did today: sometimes there are special events that will grab children's attention; things that they'll remember long after they've forgotten everyday lessons at school - the 'do you remember when we...' moments. Enjoyment of education is a part of our strategy every day and this was a day when we grabbed at the chance.
